الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الْإِسْلَامَ دِينًا

آج میں نے تمہارے لئے تمہارا دین مکمل کر دیا، اور تم پر اپنی نعمت پوری کر دی، اور تمہارے لئے اسلام کو بطور دین پسند کر لیا۔

"This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion."

الشَّهَادَة

Shahadah — Declaration of Faith

The testimony that "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." It is the entry point into Islam.

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ

"I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." This is a comprehensive commitment to Tawheed (monotheism).

الصَّلاة

Salah — Prayer

The five daily prayers are obligatory upon every Muslim. Prayer is the direct connection between the servant and their Lord.

Fajr: Dawn
Dhuhr: Midday
Asr: Afternoon
Maghrib: Sunset
Isha: Night

"The first thing a person will be accountable for on the Day of Judgment is the prayer." — Sahih Muslim

الزَّكاة

Zakat — Obligatory Charity

Zakat is the annual giving of 2.5% of one's accumulated wealth to those in need. It purifies wealth and strengthens bonds.

Zakat is obligatory on those who possess a minimum threshold (nisab) for one lunar year. It is given to eight categories mentioned in Surah At-Tawbah 9:60 — the poor, needy, zakat collectors, new Muslims, slaves, debtors, in the cause of Allah, and travelers.

الصَّوم

Sawm — Fasting

Muslims fast during the month of Ramadan, abstaining from food, drink, and sins from dawn to sunset in obedience to Allah.

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ

"O believers! Fasting is prescribed for you — as it was for those before you — so perhaps you will become mindful of Allah." (Al-Baqarah 2:183)

الحَجّ

Hajj — Pilgrimage

The pilgrimage to Makkah is obligatory once in a lifetime for every able Muslim. It is the largest annual gathering on Earth.

Key rituals: Wearing Ihram, Tawaf around the Ka'bah, Sa'i between Safa and Marwa, Standing at Arafah, Stoning at Mina, and Sacrifice.

بُنِيَ الإِسْلاَمُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ

"Islam is built upon five pillars: testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, establishing Salah, giving Zakat, Hajj, and fasting Ramadan."
